Twas
the Day After Christmas
By
Jim Hammond
Twas the Day After Christmas, and
all through the house
Not a creature was happy, Not even a
spouse.
The tree was dragged outside and its
needles fell off.
She ran her new vacuum—He ran to
play golf.
The fight was not over--had barely
begun
No vacuum was wanted—Why
is he so dumb?
She thought with the hint about
Susie's nice ring
That finally he’d get it--He got
the wrong thing.
Who wants a big vacuum, this thing
with a roar?
It doesn’t say I love you like the
ring Susie wore.
While wearing NEW Golf Shoes, he
asked “Could he go”?
He was completely surprised when her
answer was “NO”
He tried on his logic sure then that
would move her
I’ll use my new shoes while you
use your New Hoover.
Her bottom lip quivered, she cried
as he stared,
Which made her cry harder not
knowing he cared.
Twas the day after Christmas and the
cheer was not here
We wish Christmas cheer could last
all through the year.
